What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

The secret to a great photograph is never to force it. The magic happens when the subject feels comfortable and authentic, allowing their true essence to shine through. My job is to create the perfect environment with the right balance of light, composition, and timing -so that when those elements align at the right moment, THAT is when a great photograph is born.

 

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

The most important question I ask is: What do you want to convey with this photo session or project? Understanding the purpose and the emotion you want to evoke is key to capturing images that not only look amazing but also resonate with the heart. Whether it’s a wedding, a headshot, or a commercial shoot, I always want to ensure that the story we tell through the photos is deeply connected to you and your vision.

 

 

What do you love most about your job?  

I love seeing the transformation in my clients once they see the final images. There’s a profound joy in helping someone realize how incredible they truly are. Capturing the essence of love, family, or personal achievements and showcasing that beauty through the lens is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about lifting people up, making them feel seen, and celebrating their uniqueness. 

 

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always been a visual and artistic person. Since I was a pre-teen I took a film photography class at High School. I became a journalist for my School paper (and in College). I started acting and directing professionally then went to graduate school and received my masters in Fine Art. While working as a waitress and aspiring actress in Los Angeles, I began taking headshots for all my friends that were low on money.  Like wildfire, everyone started getting agents and booking acting jobs, including me!  I began taking so many photos that I didn't have time to work as a waitress anymore, which is fine by me, because I was terrible at it!
